Four-ball test (PB)
四球实验(PB)

在一定温度、转速下,四球机的钢球在润滑状态下不发生卡咬的最大负荷,此指标测量值越高,说明液压油润滑性能越好。

At a certain temperature and rotational speed, the maximum load at which the steel balls of the four-ball machine do not seize under lubrication conditions is measured. The higher this value, the better the lubricating performance of the hydraulic oil.

四球实验(PD)

在一定温度、转速下逐级增大负荷,当四球机上方钢球和下方钢球因负荷过重而发生高温烧结,设备不得不停止运转的负荷即烧结负荷,烧结负荷越高,说明液压油的极压润滑性能越好。

Under a certain temperature and rotational speed, the maximum load at which the steel balls of the four-ball machine do not seize under lubrication; the higher the measured value of this indicator, the better the lubrication performance of the hydraulic oil.

四球试验,磨斑直径

在一定温度、转速、负荷和运转时间下,四球机下方承重钢球表面因摩擦导致磨损斑痕直径的大小即磨斑,磨斑越小,说明液压油的抗磨损能力、润滑性越好。

Under certain temperature, rotational speed, load, and operating time, the diameter of the wear scar on the surface of the lower load-bearing steel ball caused by friction in the four-ball machine is called the wear scar. The smaller the wear scar, the better the hydraulic oil's anti-wear ability and lubricity.

Coefficient of friction
摩擦系数

评估液压油形成油膜隔离摩擦副的能力,降低能量损耗,摩擦系数越低证明液压油抗磨性能越好。

Evaluate the ability of hydraulic oil to form an oil film that isolates friction pairs and reduces energy loss. A lower friction coefficient indicates better anti-wear performance of the hydraulic oil.


Acid value
酸值

酸值表示液压油中有机酸和无机酸的总含量。中和1g油样所需的氢氧化钾毫克数称为总酸值,单位 mgKOH/g。酸值大,表示其有机酸含量高,有可能对机械零件造成腐蚀。

另外,液压油在贮存和和使用过程中被氧化变质,酸值也会逐渐变大,常用酸值变化大小来衡量润滑油的氧化安定性,或作为换油指标(酸值与新油相比增加超过0.3即可换油)。

The acid value represents the total content of organic and inorganic acids in the hydraulic oil. The total acid value, expressed in mgKOH/g, is the amount of potassium hydroxide in milligrams required to neutralize 1 gram of oil sample. A high acid value indicates a high content of organic acids, which may cause corrosion to mechanical parts.

Additionally, hydraulic oil oxidizes and deteriorates during storage and use, causing the acid value to gradually increase. The change in acid value is commonly used to measure the oxidation stability of the lubricant or as an oil change indicator (an increase of more than 0.3 compared to new oil indicates the need for an oil change).

Pour point, cloud point
凝点、倾点

油品在标准规定的条件下冷却时,能够继续流动的最低温度称为倾点,不能流动的最高温度称为凝点,二者通常差3℃。

测定样品的凝点时,将试样装在规定的试管中,并冷却到预期的温度时,将试管倾斜45°,经过1min,观察液面是否移动,记录试管内液面不流动时的最高温度作为凝点。

倾点高的液压油,不能在低温下使用,否则由于润滑油在低温下失去流动性,堵塞油路不能保证润滑。

The pour point is the lowest temperature at which the oil can still flow when cooled under standard conditions, while the cloud point is the highest temperature at which the oil ceases to flow; the two usually differ by about 3°C.


When determining the cloud point of a sample, the sample is placed in a specified test tube and cooled to the target temperature. The test tube is then tilted at 45°, and after 1 minute, the liquid surface is observed. The highest temperature at which the liquid surface inside the test tube does not move is recorded as the cloud point.


Hydraulic oil with a high pour point cannot be used at low temperatures; otherwise, the lubricant will lose fluidity at low temperatures, blocking oil passages and failing to ensure lubrication.

Anti-emulsification property
抗乳化性

抗乳化性好的液压油,遇水后,虽经搅拌振荡,也不易形成乳化液,或虽形成乳化液但是不稳定,易于迅速分离。

液压油中的机械杂质较多,或含有皂类、酸类及生成的油泥等,在有水存在的情况下,液压油就容易乳化,抗乳化性差的油品,其抗氧化安定性也差。

Hydraulic oil with good anti-emulsification properties does not easily form emulsions after contact with water, even after stirring or shaking, or if emulsions do form, they are unstable and separate quickly.


If the hydraulic oil contains a large amount of mechanical impurities, or contains soaps, acids, and generated sludge, the hydraulic oil is prone to emulsification in the presence of water. Oils with poor anti-emulsification properties also have poor oxidative stability.

Viscosity
粘度

粘度就是液体的内摩擦,绝大多数的润滑油是根据其粘度来分级的,是各种机械设备选油的主要依据。运动粘度的单位是mm²/s,通常用厘斯(cSt)。

企业选择液压油粘度时,需要根据液压系统的工作温度、压力、元件类型等因素确定合适的粘度范围。高温环境下应选用粘度较高的液压油,如68号(cst),低温环境下,应选择粘度较低的液压油,如32号(cst),或低温抗磨液压油。

Viscosity is the internal friction of a liquid. The vast majority of lubricants are classified based on their viscosity, which is the main criterion for selecting oil for various mechanical equipment. The unit of kinematic viscosity is mm²/s, commonly expressed in centistokes (cSt).


When selecting the viscosity of hydraulic oil, enterprises need to determine the appropriate viscosity range based on factors such as the operating temperature, pressure, and component types of the hydraulic system. In high-temperature environments, hydraulic oils with higher viscosity, such as ISO VG 68 (cSt), should be chosen. In low-temperature environments, oils with lower viscosity, such as ISO VG 32 (cSt), or low-temperature anti-wear hydraulic oils should be selected.

Viscosity Index
粘度指数

粘度指数可以用来衡量润滑油粘度受温度变化影响的程度。它的值越高则说明粘度受温度影响越小,液压油在冷热环境下都能保持更稳定的粘度,粘度指数越低则说明粘度受温度影响越大。

The viscosity index measures the extent to which the viscosity of a lubricant is affected by temperature changes. The higher the value, the less the viscosity is influenced by temperature, allowing the hydraulic oil to maintain more stable viscosity in both hot and cold environments. Conversely, a lower viscosity index indicates greater sensitivity of viscosity to temperature changes.

Open-circuit flash point
开口闪点

在规定的条件下加热,当油温达到某温度时,液压油的蒸汽和周围空气的混合气,一旦与火焰接触,即发生闪火现象,最低的闪火温度称为液压油的闪点。

闪点是液压油的贮存、运输和使用的一个安全指标,也是润滑油的挥发性指标。闪点低的润滑油,挥发性高,容易着火,安全性较差。企业应选择闪点比使用温度高 20-30℃的液压油。

Under specified conditions, when the oil is heated to a certain temperature, the mixture of hydraulic oil vapor and surrounding air will ignite upon contact with a flame. The lowest temperature at which this flash occurs is called the flash point of the hydraulic oil.

The flash point is a safety indicator for the storage, transportation, and use of hydraulic oil, as well as a measure of the volatility of the lubricant. Lubricants with low flash points have high volatility, are prone to ignition, and have poorer safety. Enterprises should select hydraulic oils with flash points 20-30°C higher than the operating temperature.

Moisture
水分

水分表示油品含水量的多少,用质量百分比表示。正常情况下,油品不应含水分,若水分含量小于0.03%,则认为是痕量水分,若没有水分时,认为是无。

水分存在,将破坏液压油膜,使润滑效果变差,加速油中有机酸值对金属的腐蚀作用,造成对机械设备的锈蚀,并导致油中的添加剂失效,水分存在时液压油乳化的可能性加大。

Moisture indicates the water content in the oil, expressed as a mass percentage. Under normal circumstances, the oil should contain no moisture; if the moisture content is less than 0.03%, it is considered trace moisture, and if there is no moisture, it is regarded as none.

The presence of moisture will damage the hydraulic oil film, deteriorate the lubrication effect, accelerate the corrosion of metals by organic acid values in the oil, cause rust on mechanical equipment, and lead to the failure of additives in the oil. When moisture is present, the possibility of hydraulic oil emulsification increases.



Mechanical impurities (mass fraction)
机械杂质(质量分数)

液压油中不溶于汽油或苯的沉淀和悬浮物,经过滤而分出的杂质,称为机械杂质。

液压油的机械杂质来源主要是润滑油在使用、贮存和运输中,混入外来物,如灰尘、泥沙、金属碎屑、金属氧化物和锈末等。机械杂质越多,液压系统磨损、拉伤、划痕、堵塞油路、油嘴、滤油器。当液压油机械杂质大于0.1%就达到了换油标准。

Mechanical impurities refer to the precipitates and suspensions in hydraulic oil that are insoluble in gasoline or benzene and are separated by filtration.

The sources of mechanical impurities in hydraulic oil mainly come from foreign substances mixed into the lubricating oil during use, storage, and transportation, such as dust, sand, metal debris, metal oxides, and rust particles. The more mechanical impurities there are, the more wear, scoring, scratching, and blockage of oil passages, nozzles, and filters occur in the hydraulic system. When the mechanical impurities in hydraulic oil exceed 0.1%, it reaches the oil change standard.

Foamy
泡沫性

如果油品的抗泡性不好,在液压系统中形成了很多泡沫,而且不能迅速破除,则将影响液压油的润滑性,增强它的氧化速度,影响液压系统压力传递。

If the oil has poor anti-foaming properties, many bubbles will form in the hydraulic system and cannot be quickly eliminated, which will affect the lubrication of the hydraulic oil, accelerate its oxidation rate, and impact the pressure transmission of the hydraulic system.

Copper sheet corrosion
铜片腐蚀

腐蚀试验是测定油品在一定温度下对金属的腐蚀作用。把一块已磨光好的铜片浸没在一定量的液压油样中,并按产品标准要求加热到指定的温度,保持一定的时间。取出铜片,经洗涤后与腐蚀标准色板进行比较,确定腐蚀级别。

The corrosion test measures the corrosive effect of the oil on metal at a certain temperature. A polished copper strip is immersed in a specified amount of hydraulic oil sample, heated to the designated temperature according to product standards, and maintained for a certain period. The copper strip is then removed, washed, and compared with a corrosion standard color chart to determine the corrosion level.
